This month’s site of the month is Martin Lewis’ MoneySavingExpert.com. The site has been around for years and now, in the time of financial crisis, it is well worth checking out for some great tips to save money. There are some amazing deals mentioned on the site which most of us would never believe! With Christmas coming up soon, money may begin to be tight so any tips available to save cash is worth looking into!
The physical website is nothing special and the layout can mean that it is hard to read at times, however the content available is fanastic and there are thousands of tips in a variety of categories, for example, cards, loans, shopping, insurance etc.
We really like the site and reckon its worth checking out to help save all those pennies!

Searchme is a Search Engine like no other. The physical search is the same but the style in which the results are presented is completely different. The results are shown in what I can only describe as like a cover flow view similar to iTunes. You can search the web, videos, images and music. To make your web searches more specific you can type in what you wish to search and a genre for that search.
The Music Search is something we really like, you can listen to full length songs for free, and if you really like the tune there is a link to the song on iTunes and Amazon. The Video Search searches the web (in particular YouTube) for videos specific to your search. You can then either watch the video direct from the original website or through Searchme. With having the flow for pictures it is much easier to view images and choose one right for you.
Another cool site which is similar to this is Viewzi. However, we have found Viewzi slow and to not have delivered as good results as Searchme. The reason Viewzi is slower is because it searches through other websites search engines.
What do you think of Searchme? Know any other cool ways to search the web?

SU2C (Stand Up To Cancer) is a new project which has really begun to take effect in America. SU2C’s belief is that scientist’s knowledge of the science of Cancer is now good enough for them to fully focus on practical research. Which will rapidly lead to more new and more effective treatments.
SU2C’s main fund raiser was a TV show earlier this month. It was a star studded show and televised on 3 leading US TV Channels in unison. You can still view the show online and with a line-up like they had I cannot see why you wouldn’t want to.
Do you know of any other exciting projects similar to SU2C?

This month’s site of the month is for our American visitors…although if you like to keep up to date on american news then the MSNBC Spectra Visual Newsreader is perfect for you! To put it bluntly, the MSNBC Spectra Visual Newsreader is a modern, easy to use, stylish and a personal way to read the news. You choose what news you would like to know about and the site will bring to you all the latest stories on that topic. There are over 170 genre’s to choose from varying from American News to the latest on Baseball to politics videos to entertainment news, so there is pretty much something for everyone! The site is also only at Beta Stage so the newsreader can only get better!
Sadly for those people who don’t have much of an interest in American news the site is based on the goings on in the US, but maybe they’ll make a British version soon!?

June’s Site Of The Month is ‘petrolprices.com‘. We thought this website might be quite relevant with all the problems with petrol prices in the UK at the moment. The site has many features which are designed to try and help you save money! There is a Petrol Price Checker which helps you to check the cheapest price for petrol in your area, which can be very helpful with the continuous rise in costs. They site also has done investigations into car insurance prices, petrol prices and much more! It also has plenty of details for any of you that may want to purchase a personalised number plate. Finally the site has an interesting blog and Environment section. The environment section has some great facts and articles on green cars.
What do you think of the site? Has it helped you out at all?

May’s site of the month is www.billbailey.co.uk. You may be sitting in your chair thinking what a strange choice this is! Well you’re probably right because the website is pretty random, but also good fun! I’m going to focus talking about the ‘flash’ version of the site, not the html version. On the home page is not like any other home page I’ve ever seen, you must click on various parts of Bill’s head to go to the different sections of the site. There are funny little activities that you have to do to go on to the next sections e.g. to get to the ‘tour’ area you must drop Bill into the coach.
Each section is not only informative but interactive and fun, for example in the ‘studio’ area there are clips from previous gigs, also you can play the piano, where as in the ‘Bunker of Dreams’ you can destroy parts of the room. The site is exciting and interesting if you have 5 minutes to spare!
What do you think of billbailey.co.uk? Do you know of any interactive exciting sites like this? If so, what are they?

April’s site of the month is ‘Moonpig.com‘. Now, many of you may have seen the Moonpig advert on TV but wondered what an earth it is, so I thought for this months site of the month I’d tell you a little bit about it.
Moonpig is basically a site in which you purchase cards to send to your friends. However, these cards are not just any cards, they can be personalized to your specification.
Then all you simply do is put the address in, pay for it and the card will be dispatched either on the day or ordering or the next working day if you live in the UK.
You are now probably sitting there thinking that sounds cool but must be ridiculously expensive, however, the cost of Moonpig cards are no more than you’d expect to pay in a good high street card store like Clinton’s Cards etc.
What do you think of Moonpig.com?

March’s Site Of The Month is ‘AllMusic‘. The site has pretty much everything and anything that you could ever want to know about Music. With biographies on thousands if not millions of artists of the past and today. There are also detailed sections on various styles of music with links to famous artists, albums and songs of that genre. Also it shows the different variations of the style, for example, within rock music there are styles such as Indie-Rock and Hard Rock, all with their very own sections showing their style variations. In the biographies of artists you can read articles on the artists/members of the band, listen to some of their tracks, view their influences and much much more!
I can recommend this to anyone, it has something to everyone! I have used this site for help with my GCSE music, checking out various artists, genres, albums etc! It has also lead me to find some of my favourite bands over the past few years. AllMusic also has some sister sites which are ‘AllMovie‘ and ‘AllGame‘.
What do you think of it?
