AVG have released their latest version of their award winning anti-virus software. Not as bit a change as we saw with version 8.0 but version 8.5 has one very obvious addition, in the Internet Security version anyway and that is Identity Protection. We have talked about this before on our blogs (Click to read articles from PCToolbox about Phishing or Click to read articles about Phishing on Brandstar). Identity theft is something many people are concerned about, and rightly so, getting your identity stolen isn’t a nice feeling.
The beginning of 2009 saw AVG aquire a leading developer of Identity Theft Software, Sana Software. This has now been intergrated with AVG Internet Security 8.5 and can also be purchased seperately for £19.99. The Identity Theft Protection part of the security suite prevents new and unknown threats from stealing your personal information like bank and credit card details, something that many of our clients are concerned about.
It is worth the upgrade, well if you are running a valid version 7.5 or version 8.0 license then you can upgrade to version 8.5 anyway, but you will only get the identity theft protection if you get the Internet Security Suite or purchase it separately. If you want to upgrade and/or renew your license contact us at Brandstar.co.uk or visit the AVG Website for a price. If you have to pay something and are trying to decide if you should upgrade then the choice is yours, but if you do banking online, buying goods online or provide any confidential personal data whilst online then we would highly recommend that you are protected against this.
